Our Story

In 1989, he was accepted in Havana’s School of Architecture (Jose Antonio Echevarria) However, after briefly attending, he gave up his dreams of becoming an architect and fled to the United States in search of a better life.
Through a church resettlement program he moved to Louisville, KY in 1992. For ten years he worked at Don Underwood Design. There he learned the art of hand drafting and architectural design. After working his way up the company, he became a Senior Designer and was an integral part of the design process of thousands of residences that ranged from track homes to custom homes and commercial projects.
This experience gave him the confidence to venture out on his own. In 2003 he obtained a Building Contractor license in the state of Kentucky and started Garcia Residential Design & Construction, LLC. He initially provided design services to local builders and individuals and later focused solely in the construction of new homes and home renovations. During 2004 to 2007 he was responsible for the design and construction of (11) homes ranging from $210k to $1.3 Million.
After moving to Jacksonville in 2009, he devoted his time to helping his family get acclimated to their new city. In 2014 he became a Florida Certified Building Contractor and a member of the North East Florida Builders Association (NEFBA).
Mr. Garcia believes that by developing a close relationship with his clients from the very early stages of conceptual design throughout the planning stages, he is able to familiarize himself with his clients living needs, lifestyle, and expectations, even before breaking ground. This makes the construction process of their homes or renovations a smooth and exciting experience for everyone involved.
